The Concept
TV talent shows are an abomination filling the airwaves. However they make money and are easy, lazy TV. Producer James Hansen has a plan to get in on the action. James sells exclusive rights to film the casting process for his new West End stage show “Rex Roman” to a Canadian TV network. However to make money James has to sabotage his own auditions and never actually stage the show. James hires an out of work actor to play his insane casting director Thomas Mueller with a brief to humiliate the auditionees for the purpose of good television. Thomas does this and much more to the dismay of the auditionees and film crew but to the delight of the TV network as the search is on for the new REX ROMAN.

The Timeline
In June 2010 work began on a 6 part, 30min per episode, Rex Roman TV comedy series.

By Feb 2011 the series scripts were completed and largely filmed in rehearsal situations in London with a key cast of actors.

In March 2011, having been shown our Rex Roman trailer, legendary BAFTA TV producer Gareth Gwenlan became involved and suggested a low cost web series should be made.

Between April and July 2011 a new 6 part, 2min per episode, web series was written by Simon Ash, Nathan Plant & Brandon Francis and subsequently filmed and directed by Gareth Gwenlan. The web series is called Thomas Mueller Meats. Thomas is the hit character from the Rex Roman Live Show and the casting director sent to sabotage the auditions in the Rex Roman TV Series.

In October 2011 reaction to the web series proved so positive that plans to turn the material into a full 30min episode featuring Kevin Spacey were put into place.

In November 2011 funding was secured to make a 30min episode of “Thomas Mueller Meats” as a potential pilot to the Rex Roman TV series.

In December 2011 a full 30min episode of Thomas Mueller Meats was finalised in script form and printed ready to enter production.

Plans are underway to film Thomas Mueller Meats in April/May 2012.
